THE SETH FOUNDATION
The Seth Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization that was created more than 13 years ago in upstate New York. A boy named Seth was born in 1990 with a severe, previously undiagnosed, birth defect. Seth was born to a middle class family with no previous children. After birth, Seth needed several surgeries, treatments, medications, equipment, and daily, if not hourly care. The family had health insurance, but many necessary items were not covered. The family made several pleas for help from well known national children' s charities, all to no avail. The national children' s charities could not help individual families or children in the way Seth' s family so desperately needed. As a result, the family became responsible for the extra monetary burden which can often result in a significant decrease to the new family' s quality of life.
The Seth Foundation has operated in New York state, Florida, New Mexico and now in Louisiana. With all that has happened in Louisiana, we are certain the need for The Seth Foundation is greater. While we are interested in helping as many families as possible, we are limited by the amount of funds we raise. We feel it is equally important to build partnerships with businesses that can help us achieve our goals. We have reached out to the health industry in Louisiana, and have been overwhelmed with the welcoming comments. Our recent trip to Women's and Children's hospital of Lafayette resulted in many ideas being shared and issues being heard. There are several heart wrenching stories of Louisiana families, much like Seth's story.
Meeting the Faces of The Seth Foundation gives you a better understanding of the versatility of our assistance. It is this versatility and an immediate response to an application that sets The Seth Foundation apart from the rest. The Seth Foundation gives larger corporations the opportunity to help their communities in ways their corporate policies and procedures will not allow. There is a great need for an organization like ours in Acadiana. Acadiana is a community that helps each other. The Seth Foundation is an organization that helps our community.
